We will have last session of plantation for this season at Sonale Phata – Dindeshwar Forest on Sunday, 19th August 2007 between 08.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
About 500 (five hundred) Volunteers of N.S.S. Units of several participating colleges would be participating in this mega event. We intend to plant not leass than 5,000 (five thousand) saplings of assorted species of ‘forest-friendly’, fruit-bearing, flower-giving trees with medicial properties, too, on this occasion. That would take the tally of trees planted /to be planted at this particular site during this monsoon to 15,000.
You would also be very happy to note that a “Joint Forest Management Committee: has been constituted for the development of this site into an “Ideal Forest” at the initiative of the Chief Consevator of Forest, Thane Circle Shri Shree Bhagwan Sir, Hariyali and the Dy. Conservator of Forest, Thane Division, Shri Walimbe Sir. As such, we also intend to undertake several surveys at this site, including zoological, botanical, socio-economic surveys with the help and participation of the respective faculties of several of our participating colleges. Those of you who intend to associate with surch surveys are invited to communicate their names and the areas of probable contributions to the undersigned.
You are also invited to participate in the plantation session on Sunday, 19th August. Meeting point shall be at the Main Gate of Flower Valley at 07.00 a.m.
