Hariyali’s 1st plantation session of the current monsoon was held at Bhavale forestland as informed to you earlier on Saturday, 14th June 2008 between 08.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Highlights of the event are as follows: -

1. In all about 500 volunteers participated. These included 350 employees for Morgan Stanley Ltd, activists of Hariyali, studnets of 4th standard of Lonad Primary School, staff of Padgha Range of Forest, residents of Bhavale and Lonad village,etc. ACF Shri Satish Phale, Thane (Wild Life Division) also attended in the capacity of a volunteer along with the members of his family.
2. In all 2,200 saplings of assorted species of forest-friendly, fruit-bearing trees, as also, medicinal plants were planted out of a total target of 25,000 trees to be planted at the site during the current monsoon. These plants were sponsored by Kandivali Plant of Mahindra & Mahindra ltd, and supplied from their Plant at Nashik. They had also sent of team of observers from their end to see the people in action and participate in the process of plantation.
3. 2nd session of plantation was held on Sunday, 15th July at the same site during the same time-frame, wherein about 80 students from A.E. Kalsekar Degree College, 10 volunters of PAWS and 40 volunteers from Hariyali had participated. In all 11,50 saplings were planted during this session, These saplings, too, were sponsored by Mahindra & Mahindra ltd.

Remarks
1) Open to all without any participation fees
2) Commutation cost to be borne by each one.
3) Each one to bring one-time refreshment and drinking water for self.

Notes: –
(1) Hariyali and Thane Circle/Division of forest are palnning to plant not less than 25,000       
forest-frinedly trees on this site during this monsoon.       
(2) There would also be additional plantation sessions on week days depending upon the       
convenience of the participating schools, colleges, corporates, etc.       
(3) Participation is invited from people at large in terms of shramdan, monetary donations,      
implements, etc.       
(4) The site is to be developed in course of time as a ‘Smrutivan’.       
(5) Corporates, schools, colleges and other social service organizations desirous of parti-

(6) The site is about 25 k.m. from Thane on N.H. No. 3 (Nashik Highway) and the road map is      
attached separately.
